CENTERING SUSTAINABILITY AT EVOLUTION FRESH

At Evolution Fresh we exist to help people thrive. It’s at the center of everything we do. Staying true to who we are, we’re doing all we can to cut the amount of waste we generate. That’s why becoming a zero-waste facility is so important to us.

Recently we became Silver level certified by the TRUE program. TRUE stands for total resource use and efficiency, and it’s one of the strictest zero-waste certification programs world-wide. The program has challenged us to limit our own waste and prioritize sustainability efforts as we grow. Because of the amazing relationships our team has created within our community, we’re able to reduce waste, save natural resources, and create new jobs.

With the help of our Continuous Improvement team whose mission is to empower our partners to be changemakers, we’ve built strong local partnerships that better our sustainability efforts at all levels. Our Sourcing Manager works with our partner farmers to use as much existing produce as possible so we create the best quality juice without wasting valuable resources. They also send produce waste to dairy farms that use it for cattle feed.

The TRUE Advisors on our team partner with composting facilities that treat our wastewater so it can be used exclusively to grow animal feed. They also created a partnership that allows us to deliver our waste to recycling facilities so it can be turned into new products.

Our Distribution Operations Manager established a program that donates unused products to nonprofit organizations. This ensures that none of our products are going to waste and instead to great causes.

The Continuous Improvement team’s efforts have led to reduced amounts of waste sent to landfills and incinerators. They’ve helped create jobs in the recycling and manufacturing industries and contributed to the conservation of resources such as timber, water, and minerals.

We’re still growing. And learning. But we know our efforts will help create a happier environment for everyone to thrive.
